Schedule

  • Variable schedule with a mix of day and late shifts.
  • Typical shifts include:
    • Day Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (may start as early as 6:30 AM for complex case set‑up)
    • Mid Shift: 11:00 AM–7:30 PM or 1:00 PM–9:30 PM
    • Evening/Late Shift: 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
On‑Call & Weekend Requirements
  • Neuro – Week‑long call rotation, including weekends (Friday–Monday)
  • General Surgery – 2–3 weeknight call shifts per month plus 24‑hour weekend call
  • Orthopedics – 2–3 weeknights per month and 12‑hour weekend call every 4th weekend
Qualifications
  • Previous OR experience preferred, though new graduates and experienced RNs are invited to apply.
Job Summary

Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during the procedure.
  • Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after the procedure.
  • Directly assists the operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
  • Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
  • Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in nursing to ensure care is delivered based on the patient’s age‑specific needs and clinical requirements.
  • Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to evolving health needs.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school or education equivalency for licensing.
Experience
  • No experience required.

  • Constant use of speech to share information.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent visual use for near and far distances and color identification.
  • Frequent use of smell for odor detection.
  • Frequent use of hearing for oral communication and alarms.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
  • Occasional patient movement.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Required Professional Licenses
  • Illinois – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) (IDFPR).
  • Missouri – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) and RN (Missouri Division of Professional Registration) or RN issued by Compact State.
  • Oklahoma – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) and RN issued by Compact State or RN (Oklahoma Board of Nursing).
  • Wisconsin – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) and RN issued by Compact State or RN (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services).
