Overview
Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a Scaffold Builder to join our team in the Decatur, AL area. The Scaffold Builder will be responsible for assembling, positioning, modifying, and dismantling scaffolding to job specifications.
Responsibilities- Assemble scaffold systems consisting of guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens and/or wheels.
- Position scaffold by rolling into place or erecting in place; secure scaffold to permanent structures if required.
- Inspect surfaces for holes or obstructions and ensure levelness before assembly; perform additional assignments per supervisor s direction.
- Operate different types of forklift as required and comply with client site safety requirements and equipment usage.
- Follow job site safety requirements and client safety equipment expectations (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
- Maintain and use tools as needed (toolbox, tool belt, adjustable wrench, ratchet wrench with socket, claw hammer, cutting pliers, torpedo level, tape, rain gear).
- Manage compliance with safety, health, and project-specific qualifications, including post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation as required by client.
- High school or equivalent
- One to four years of experience in the specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
- Ability to read engineered drawings preferred
- Ability to operate different types of forklift
- National Certification preferred (may be required by client)
- Written pre-employment qualification test
- Safety requirements as required by the client (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
- May be required to provide tools such as toolbox, tool belt, various wrenches, hammer, pliers, level, tape, and rain gear
Inspects surface for holes, objects, and levelness. Assembles scaffold consisting of guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens and/or wheels. Positions scaffold by rolling it into place or erecting in place. Secures scaffold to permanent structure if required. Some other assembly types may include hard barricades and engineered scaffolds. Performs additional assignments per supervisor s direction.
CompensationFinal agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical InvolvementEmployee may be required to perform activities such as climbing ladders and scaffolds, maintaining balance, handling and manipulating objects, lifting 30 to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, seeing and hearing with or without correction.
