Position: IS Technician

Thompson Industrial is looking for Hydroblaster/Field Technician
. This Technician will be responsible for the safe and proper execution of Thompson Industrial jobs across all service lines. They will work at customer locations and join a safety‑conscious team. The technician is responsible for one or more crew teams by planning, leading, organizing, and coordinating daily operations. Responsibilities include proper operation of equipment, driving operational efficiencies at the work site, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining compliance with Company policies.

They will represent Thompson Industrial by building ongoing relationships with clients and ensuring quality, timely industrial cleaning services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as safety representative responsible for safety policies & procedures of the company and the customer, including hands‑on information regarding operations, safety, equipment, emergency response and administrative functions.
  • Hands‑on operation of manual and automated hydro‑blasting equipment when required.
  • Operate special equipment such as ultra‑high‑pressure pumps.
  • Operate equipment by energizing pumping equipment and specialized hydro‑blasting or chemical cleaning equipment, vacuum trucks, and cutting equipment used on the job.
  • Examine surface cleaning to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment used on the job.
  • If in a supervisory capacity, interface with customer representatives regarding job setup and scope, ensure performance and customer requirements are met or exceeded, and implement company policies at the job site; report to the branch manager or designee.
Physical Demands
  • See, read, distinguish, & understand signs in the work area.
  • Hear and distinguish emergency signals while on duty.
  • Execute a 180‑degree rotary motion of the cervical spine to allow complete movement of the head & neck.
  • Must be able to extend arms above your head.
  • Frequently bend at waist, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl.
  • Tolerate being wet from head to toe for an unlimited amount of time.
  • Climb ladders & work from scaffolding or stationary platforms up to heights of 200 ft.
  • Tolerate and function in confined spaces with a minimum of 5 ft inside diameter.
  • Hold a back thrust of 50 lbs on a straight 66” pipe for a minimum of 1 hour.
  • Work up to 16 hours per shift.
  • Use negative pressure and air‑supplied respirators.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment (Nomex coveralls, back belt, slickers, rubber boots, fresh‑air breathing mask, escape pack, hard hat).
  • Work under extreme climate conditions (high heat index of 95°F with 98% humidity; sub‑zero temperatures).
  • Exposure to dust (chemical & environmental), fumes (chemical & fluids), exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids (a respirator will be provided when required).
  • Noise levels exceed 85 dBA (hearing protection is provided and required).
  • Lift & maintain a minimum of 40 lbs.
Qualifications
  • Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on‑the‑job training, and essential experience gained on other jobs.
  • Language proficiency: understands English at a level to comprehend safety training & respond to instructions in emergency situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and compliance with the company’s driving policy when driving a company vehicle or using a personal vehicle on company business.
  • Knowledgeable in operation of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers.
  • Provide Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
