HVAC Systems Supervisor
Installs and repairs all facets of the HVAC systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Boiler Mechanic, Pipefitter
- Ensures system computer is up to date
- Controls system computer
- Assigns tasks to workers, and inspects completed work for conformance to standards
- Issues supplies and equipment
- Resolves workers' problems or refers matters to supervisor
- Records employees' hours worked on time cards or time sheets
- Submits requests for equipment repair
- Requisition s or purchases supplies and equipment
- Performs duties of workers supervised

Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in-one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical
Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Meet all State of Alabama qualifications
- Refrigeration Certification
- Valid Alabama drivers license
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Salary:
- Salary schedules are found on the main Decatur City Schools website.
- Verification of previous public school teaching experience is required to compute your annual salary.
