Light Equipment Operator

Position Summary

Light Equipment Operator will operate construction equipment such as bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders to move earth. Responsible for safety, equipment inspections, possible repairs, and assisting other crafts during downtime.

• Operate various construction equipment to move earth in precision processes.
• Inspect equipment and maintain inspection paperwork.
• Ensure all safety aspects of equipment operation.
• Follow signal directions from a signaler as required.
• Access work area to assess safety issues and plan equipment operations.
• Assist other crafts during non‑operating activities.

• Minimum 2+ years experience as a Dirt Equipment Operator.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities in operating the specified equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to inspect equipment.
• Familiarity with soil types and excavation specifications.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Reliable, accountable, and detail‑oriented in administrative processes.
• Willing and able to follow all safety regulations.
• Must be able to reach, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass visual acuity assessment and use fingers in precise movements.
• Must have good dexterity in arms, legs, hands, and feet.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have all required tools (raincoat, rain boots).
• Must have valid driver’s license (if required) and acceptable motor‑vehicle record.
• Must possess forklift experience.

• Current or former employee of Zachry Industrial, Inc.

Employee will be required to sit for extended periods, communicate, use arms and hands for signaling and handling equipment, and may need to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. Must pass visual acuity assessment and maintain good dexterity. Appropriate PPE will be required.
