Field Installation Technician - South Western Communications
Position:
Field Installation Technician (Full‑time, hourly). Reports to Field Operations Manager.

- Installation, troubleshooting, and testing of microprocessor based control systems, CCTV (analog & IP), fire alarm, audio, paging, Ethernet, and computer systems in detention facilities.
- Pulling electronic cable.
- Basic wiring and installation of hardware.
- Operating cable testing equipment.
- Meeting all installation, commissioning and testing deadlines.
- Accurate tracking on time sheets, service/installation tickets and inventory items.
- Full compliance with company and customer safety programs.
- Operation of power tools.
- Other duties as required or assigned by company management.
- Proficient with installation and service of PLC and microprocessor based control systems, CCTV (analog & IP), fire alarm systems, audio and paging systems, Ethernet networks, and basic computer skills.
- Strong troubleshooting ability, mechanically inclined and willing to learn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Responsible, self‑motivated, self‑starter, personable and well‑organized.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in personal computers including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Planning, organizing and implementing skills to complete projects by specific due dates.
- Effective handling of stressful situations.
- Ability to read and interpret general business documentation.
- Pass background check, substance screening and possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be willing to travel, have a satisfactory driving record and clean criminal history. Position requires weekly travel to job sites. Company vehicle is provided and expenses are paid.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements- Stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers as required.
- Adhere to SWC and OSHA regulations and use required PPE.
- Lift 70 lbs overhead and work from ladders and other construction equipment.
- Climb, crawl and raise items overhead; reach, grasp and carry activities are required.
- Work environment is usually moderate in noise; occasional outdoor tasks are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
