CDL Driver

Class A CDL Driver – Decatur, AL

• Pick up and deliver products within an assigned industrial area using commercial vehicles requiring a Class A CDL.
• Follow all safety regulations and guidelines, including use of PPE when handling hazardous materials.
• Maintain a valid DOT commercial driver’s license, necessary certifications, and complete required training updates.
• Inspect vehicle before and after use; ensure safe operation and compliance with DOT pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection requirements.
• Provide proper emergency/safety equipment and placards for hazardous material transport.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, shipping papers, and permits in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Prepare, receive, and provide documentation for delivery or pickup of goods.
• Record preventive maintenance and expense records for the vehicle.
• Operate a tractor‑trailer truck that transports cargo to and from specified destinations.
• Inspect, maintain, and schedule repairs on truck/trailer.
• Load, secure, verify, and unload cargo per operating procedures.
• Plan and direct loading/unloading for optimal customer service and safe transportation.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers and respond to their service needs.
• Wash and clean the vehicle to preserve a good public image.
• Train seasonal or new employees in the proper operation and maintenance of equipment and other related duties.
• Assist other employees with various duties when not actively driving, including order filling, inventory, forklift operation, general equipment maintenance, grounds work, and housekeeping.
• Perform other assigned job tasks to support the successful operation of the warehouse/location.

• Satisfactory driving record in accordance with company guidelines.
• CDL Class A required.
• High School Diploma or GED; experience may be considered.
• Skill Level I – Entry level (0‑2 years driver experience); may require Tanker or HAZMAT endorsement depending on location need.
• Skill Level II – 3‑9 years driver experience; may require Tanker or HAZMAT endorsement depending on location need.
• Skill Level III – 10+ years driver experience; may require Tanker or HAZMAT endorsement depending on location need.

• Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Operate all necessary equipment.
• Communicate with associates and customers.
• Read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation, including product labels, SDS sheets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Calculate figures and amounts such as product quantity, load counts, and weight measurements.
• Work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Demonstrate integrity, results orientation, and teamwork as a warehouse team contributor.
• Preferred Abilities: Basic knowledge/experience with small engines and hydraulics.
• Basic welding skills.

Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, adverse weather, and extreme temperatures in outdoor and warehouse environments.

Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, move boxes of product and fixtures, lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.

Day trips driving commercial vehicles to and from pickup and drop‑off locations; overnight travel is rare.
