Job Summary: This position is based out of Hanceville and will be driving freight to/from our Birmingham location – Class A CDL License required.

The employee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight, on adaily basis, between one or more locations but will return to Hanceville eachday. Must be able to operate truck with a manual transmission. Ability to lift a minimumof 25 pounds is required. Work environment includes company vehicle and warehouse,plant or production areas with periods of continual driving/sitting and occasional standing or walking.

The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing is required. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to passall DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment testing (including background, drug screening and agility testing) will be required post offer.

Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):

The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Follow safety rules and work procedures.
  • Drives 24' straight truck (cap 10 tons) to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
