Position

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager, Indirect Tax is responsible for leading and managing all indirect tax compliance, risk management, and advisory activities across Construction Resources and its affiliated companies. This role oversees end-to-end indirect tax obligations, including sales and use tax, property tax, excise tax, business licenses, and other non-income-based taxes. The position partners closely with Corporate Accounting, Operations, IT, and business leaders to ensure accurate tax determination, timely filings, strong internal controls, and proactive response to regulatory changes.

This role also supports audits, financial reporting, system implementations, and strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, in support of the company’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the following functions:
  • Business Licenses
    • Preparing business license applications and annual renewals
    • Applying for new licenses as needed
    • Maintaining list of all active and inactive licenses
    • Research Business License requirements as we expand into new jurisdictions
  • Sales and Use Tax
    • Preparing and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns for various states and jurisdictions
    • Aid in the accurate calculation and timely remittance of sales and use taxes
    • Maintain proper support and reconciliations for files and future audits
    • Coordinate with States to provide required support for future audits
    • Monthly update of tax codes in ERPs to ensure proper collection
  • Personal Property Tax Filings
    • Prepare and file annual property tax returns for all physical locations in various states and jurisdictions
    • Maintain list of all properties, related returns, and payments
  • 1099 Preparation and Reporting
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to compile information for filing annual 1099 reporting
  • Annual Report Filing for relevant jurisdictions
  • Ad Hoc Legal Entity Assistance to Corporate Controller (W9s, various legal entity filings)
  • Special projects as assigned related to job duties
Experience & Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Accounting or related field required, CPA/CMA is a plus
  • 5+ years of sales/use tax and business license experience
  • Excellent organization, analytical and communication skills
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and work within specified time frames
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, self-directed environment
  • Willingness to contribute new ideas and feedback related to potential areas for improvements

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.
