Ledgent Finance and Accounting is working with a client that is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Budgeting & Purchasing Clerk
to support budgeting, procurement, and financial operations for multiple departments. This individual will assist with budget administration, purchasing activities, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have experience in budgeting and purchasing within a government, public sector, or educational environment and possess strong Excel skills. The client is willing to train on specific responsibilities for candidates who bring a solid foundation in budget and procurement support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting for assigned departments.
- Maintain budget spreadsheets, workbooks, and financial records.
- Process purchase requests and support procurement activities.
- Track expenditures and reconcile budget variances.
- Research and resolve purchasing and budget-related discrepancies.
- Prepare reports and provide financial data as requested by management.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding purchasing activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational purchasing policies and procedures.
- Support special projects and additional financial administrative duties as assigned.
- Experience supporting budgeting, purchasing, procurement, or financial operations.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with spreadsheets and workbooks.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in government, public sector, municipality, or educational organizations.
- Exposure to financial management or ERP software.
- Experience working with procurement and budget administration processes.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred but not required. - 100% On-Site
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term placement
The successful candidate will be highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working with financial data. They should thrive in a collaborative environment, have a strong attention to detail, and be capable of supporting budgeting and purchasing functions with accuracy and efficiency.
