HousingChoice Voucher Program Specialist Position Summary
The Occupancy Specialist is responsible for intake and eligibility of applicants and voucher management, administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Key duties include coordinating client interviews, determining eligibility and compliance, calculating housing subsidy, issuing vouchers, verifying employment, managing portable vouchers, administering waiting lists, ensuring timely data processing, and handling the HAP contracting process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Calculates HUD- required rental contribution and monthly authority housing assistance to the owner.
- Prepares HAP contract and ensures timely processing, execution, and ownership payments, including utility allowance payments.
- Reviews landlord/owner leases for compliance and processes voucher forms.
- Maintains accurate document management for assigned controlled documents.
- Updates landlord information in the system.
- Provides direct customer service to participants and landlords, addressing inquiries and requests.
- Collects, reviews, and processes data within required timelines, calculating rents and assistance payments.
- Conducts interviews, collects paperwork, and resolves issues, complaints, or problems.
- Documents all tasks in participant files and maintains hard documentation.
- Follows up on tasks promptly, managing mail and ensuring correct correspondence.
- Prepares correspondence and maintains files accurately.
- Adheres to Authority standards on ethical, responsible use of resources.
- Performs additional duties as required to cover absences or balance workload.
- Some college coursework preferred;
Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, urban studies, social service, or related field a plus. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, proprietary software, and database operations.
