Position Summary

The Senior Army Instructor (SAI) leads and manages the Army JROTC program at Decatur High School as a comprehensive leadership and workforce readiness pathway. In alignment with U.S. Army Cadet Command regulations and district priorities, the SAI develops students' leadership capacity, civic responsibility, discipline, and college and career readiness skills. The SAI serves as the primary instructional leader and ambassador of the JROTC program, ensuring compliance, program excellence, and meaningful student engagement.

Duties
  • Deliver the Army JROTC curriculum focused on leadership and citizenship
  • Supervise and mentor cadet leadership structures
  • Support cadets in exploring postsecondary pathways, including military service, ROTC programs, public safety, and government service
  • Administer the JROTC program in compliance with Cadet Command Regulations (CCR 145-2 and CCR 145-8-3)
  • Perform required administrative and logistical tasks related to program management
  • Prepare for annual inspections and required reporting
  • Lead co-curricular activities (Drill, Color Guard, Raiders, etc.) and community service events
  • Represent the JROTC program at school and district events as appropriate
  • Develop recruitment and retention strategies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Honorably retired U.S. Army Officer certified by U.S. Army Cadet Command as a Senior Army Instructor
  • Eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission permit
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience working with youth preferred
Working Conditions
  • May require work in inclement weather.
  • Must meet physical standards outlined in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with district personnel, families, and community partners
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse student populations
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a structured environment
