Montessori Academy of Decatur is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Montessori Assistant Teacher to join our Infant Classroom. We are a close-knit school community committed to providing a calm, respectful, and developmentally appropriate environment for our youngest learners.
Position Overview
The Montessori Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and loving classroom that follows Montessori principles and supports each child’s individual development. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and has hands-on experience working with infants.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing Montessori practices in the infant classroom
- Support daily care routines, including feeding, diapering, and nap schedules
- Observe and respond to infants’ developmental and emotional needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and prepared classroom environment
- Foster warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff
- Follow all state licensing and school policies and procedures
- Minimum of an Associate Degree (Early Childhood Education or related field preferred)
- 3–5 years of experience working with infants in a childcare or Montessori setting
- Knowledge of Montessori philosophy (formal Montessori training is a plus)
- Patience, warmth, and a genuine love for working with infants
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
