Opening Statement

The Waldorf School of Atlanta is seeking a Middle School Math Support Specialist, with strong math remediation skills to work with students in grades 5 – 8. This position is an hourly, part-time position. There is some flexibility as to what days math support
sessions happen and could be condensed to two days per week.

About

Founded in 1986 as a preschool/kindergarten program, The Waldorf School of Atlanta graduated its first eighth grade class in 2000. We currently offer preschool to grade eight education for approximately 200 students; including Spanish, Eurythmy, Movement Education, Music (Recorder, Strings, Chorus, Drumming), Handwork, Woodwork, Practical Arts, and Sports Programs. Our parent/child program warmly introduces young families to Waldorf education and fosters a strong community of families throughout the grades.

The school is fully accredited by regional and national accrediting bodies and is a full member of AWSNA. Academe of the Oaks (Waldorf High School) opened in the fall of 2003, just five minutes from the WSA campus.

The Math Support Specialist provides small group tutoring once per week to students in grades 5 – 8 who need more focused instruction to supplement their regular math class in developing math skills. Other duties might include grading support for MS math classes and assisting in some MS math classes, with potential opportunities to add to teaching load.
