The purpose of this classification is to perform professional civil engineering tasks in support of capital projects, plan review and other infrastructure construction and maintenance projects. Essential functions include conducting and/or reviewing modeling, planning, and engineering studies in support of project analysis and design, preparing reports detailing the quantitative analysis performed and concluding recommendations, reviewing and verifying engineering calculations and analysis submitted by consultant engineers or internal engineering technicians, conducting a programming assessment to determine space, infrastructure, facility, and other project requirements, developing preliminary/final plans and designs using CAD and other engineering/drafting tools, coordinating and reviewing the work of contracted architects, engineers, city staff and other project service providers, completing review of civil engineering aspects of all site development plans to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards, calculating cost estimates and identifying resources needed for projects, facilitating communication between the owner, project manager, contractors, other governmental agencies, the public, and other interested parties, and providing technical assistance to project managers and contracts officers during the bid phase of project design to help evaluate proposals and make recommendations for awarding the contract.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline required; two years of experience in civil engineering; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Specific license or certification required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

• Key responsibilities of the engineer will be to review crash data for safety improvements to include making recommendations, concept and final construction plans, review site plans for VRU issues, recommend VRU enhancements to capital projects, traffic studies, and stakeholder collaboration.
