Senior Accountant

Community Housing Capital (CHC) is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to facilitating the creation and preservation of affordable housing. CHC provides flexible and mission‑driven financing that supports every stage of an affordable housing project’s life cycle — from early‑stage predevelopment and acquisition lines of credit to construction and permanent loan options.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who brings strong financial acumen, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting CHC’s mission.

The Senior Accountant will manage core accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance support, and analytical functions. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is hands‑on and essential to maintaining financial accuracy and supporting organizational growth.

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations using Quick Books Online, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Support the organization’s transition from Quick Books to a future ERP system.
• Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget‑to‑actual reports.
• Generate dashboards, board reports, and financial analyses for leadership.
• Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audit preparation.

• Lead the development and preparation of the annual organization budget.
• Monitor and analyze variances throughout the year.

• Prepare investor compliance reports and ensure accuracy of submissions.
• Support CDFI‑related compliance requirements (experience helpful but not required).
• Maintain solid documentation standards and internal controls.

• Utilize advanced Excel skills to build reports, financial models, and analysis tools.
• Maintain accurate financial data and assist with improvements to reporting processes.
• Support the future implementation and migration to an ERP solution.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience (exposure to mission‑driven or lending environments is a plus).
• Proficiency with Quick Books Online and strong readiness for ERP transition.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, modeling).
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and strong commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work onsite in Atlanta; hybrid flexibility available for the right candidate.
• Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 (DOE)
