Position Summary
Under the direction of the Facilities Project Manager, the IT Support Technician has primary technical responsibility for ongoing support of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware and software for the computer network system. In cooperation with the Facilities Project Manager, the support technician is responsible for implementing network configuration, and monitoring. The duties listed below illustrate the various types of work that may be performed.
Moderate travel (50%) is required.

Essential Job Functions- Support LAN/WAN systems and voice and data communications networks within the parameters established to identify and evaluate technology needs and provide technical solutions and cost‑effective approaches for daily administrative and operations.
- Support for configuration, backup, and archiving of LAN/WAN system components, including servers, workstations, scanning devices, network equipment, and software (e.g., exchange server, SQL, etc.) and MS Office software.
- Perform system support duties on all LAN/WAN system components, addressing issues such as address and domain assignment, routing and bridging strategies, and specifying and maintaining records of network configuration.
- Support the configuration and implementation of file servers, network operating systems, networked applications and other network‑related software components.
- Support data backup and archive systems, ensuring backup and archive are in accordance with plan and that a high confidence level for data retrieval is maintained.
- Support installation of LAN/WAN system components and user departments as required.
- Support installations, configurations, and tests of new LAN/WAN system components to ensure system integrity.
- Provide necessary technical assistance and support for computer hardware and software operations and the telecommunications network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN system component problems in a timely manner.
- Investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems of users on both LAN/WAN.
- Maintain record of problems in an organized and timely manner to provide to Facilities Project Manager, as required.
- Accountable for consistent adherence to strong Authority standards regarding the ethical, responsible, and appropriate use, care, and safeguarding of Authority materials, supplies, resources, and other assets.
- Provide in‑person training at sites as needed.
- Any other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer or closely related field from an accredited college or university, with appropriate certification preferred and 2-5 years of experience in applicable area of responsibility or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Office 2010, Office 2013, Office 365 Online, HP Pro Curve, SharePoint, McAfee, Evault Backup, VMWare, VLANs, Virtual Desktop Configuration and Implementation, VOIP systems (Avaya preferred). Skilled in operating standard telecommunication and computer equipment, and the ability to be innovative and creative in developing plans and solutions.
- Thorough knowledge of standard Information Technology best practices, policies, procedures, etc.
- Must possess sound judgment and decision‑making skills. Strong ability to self‑manage, drive objectives and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi‑task and exhibit strong organizational and project management skills is required.
- Excellent communication, managerial and problem‑solving skills are required.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Working (intermediate or better) knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
