SummaryLeviat North America is seeking a Transportation & Logistics professional for our Atlanta, GA office who is passionate about playing a crucial role in the day-to-day shipping execution and ongoing freight KPI management. This individual should balance customer focus with cost effective freight solutions, with the ability to understand how tactical decision-making drives business KPIs. It is essential the candidate can work individually and in a team environment, effectively supporting DC teams, CSRs, Mfg Ops, and Inventory Planners while managing relationships with Carrier partners.
The right candidate will be solutions oriented, detailed, meticulous, and demonstrate a sense of urgency in their work. This role will report to Director of Supply Chain.
- Support day-to-day shipping activities across 4 major sites through negotiating and securing spot market capacity to support customer and operational requirements.
- Execute freight booking and tendering processes using approved carrier partners, leveraging TMS system where appropriate.
- Track and trace shipments across (LTL/FTL/Parcel) to ensure timely pickup and delivery performance.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment issues including missed/late pickups, delivery exceptions, scheduling conflicts, transit delays, and other service disruptions. Communicate impacts and updates to Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for freight related inquiries.
- Execute freight claims related to damage, shortages, loss, and service failures.
- Analyze freight spend and lane performance to identify savings and optimization opportunities.
- Conduct lane and rate comparisons across carriers, transportation modes, and market conditions.
- Support the development and management of a network of carrier partners, engage in rate negotiation and comparative analysis to assess new partner opportunities.
- Monitor and update weekly/monthly KPIs around carrier performance, freight spend and TMS usage compliance.
- Participate in carrier business reviews and performance meetings.
- Identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions related to transportation service and cost performance.
- Evaluate transportation market trends and provide recommendations for network and routing improvements.
- Support freight budgeting, forecasting, and transportation procurement activities.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance transportation efficiency, service, and cost performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of Truckload, LTL, and Parcel transportation operations.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult carrier and customer situations in a respectful and professional manner.
- Excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Occasional visits to manufacturing and distribution facilities is possible but not frequent.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience utilizing Transportation Management Systems.
- Experience with freight claims management and freight audit processes.
- Knowledge of transportation pricing and market dynamics.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- APICS CLTD, CSCMP SCPro, or related supply chain certifications.
