Child & Adolescent Crisis Stabilization Unit
The Adolescent Crisis Stabilization Program is a short-term, 24/7 residential crisis unit located in Decatur, Georgia. The Crisis Stabilization program provides comprehensive psychiatric crisis intervention and stabilization services to adolescents, 14-17 years of age.
Under general supervision, assesses client health problems and needs. Develops and implements nursing care plans and maintains medical records. Administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients. May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform nursing assessments, develop initial nursing treatment plan, provide supportive counseling, administer medications, provide crisis intervention services, and ensure that nursing care is provided per physician orders. Supervise shift staff.
- Serve as liaison between the admitting facility, guardian, and our onsite team regarding client referrals and collateral information.
- Asses each client upon arrival on site.
- Monitor changes in conditions, produce shift reports, daily and shift nursing notes, nursing assessments, develop the initial nursing treatment plan, gather collateral information related to ABA therapy, provide clinical and medical input during multidisciplinary treatment team, and administer medications related to crisis intervention services.
- Ensure that all nursing care and medical services are provided in a manner that is sensitive to the needs of the population we are serving.
- Responsible for medical treatment: PPEs, blood draws, collecting urine samples, MD orders, charting, direct patient care, discharges, assessments, patient education, and other documentation, and reporting all pertinent client information.
- Use the eight rights of medication administration, as well as two client identifiers whenever medications are administered.
- Oversee overall wellness and safety of the clients, monitor and manage any stable medical conditions while the client is at the C&A CSU, and report findings to the provider and treatment team.
- Document all vital client information in the electronic health record according to standards and assist with orienting new staff to the unit.
- Provide relief for breaks and assist with Direct Care floor coverage as needed.
- Attend all trainings, nurses meetings, and other staff meetings as assigned.
- This position may require long periods of sitting and/or standing.
- Employees are subject to random drug screens.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND any related professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications- One plus years of nursing experience
- One plus years of experience working in a behavioral health facility or with behavioral health clients
- Experience working with psychiatric adults
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
- Must have valid Georgia drivers license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
- Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to random drug screens.
- Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
