Job SummaryUnder general supervision, provides professional nursing services for individuals receiving behavioral healthcare in accordance with medical protocols. Assesses clients’ conditions, develops care plans, delivers treatment and education, participates in the clinical treatment team, and offers guidance on nursing treatment and health‑related matters. Provides direct nursing and/or clinical education services to clients and their families or significant others.
Clinical Nursing Care- Performs nursing assessments of clients of all ages to determine current status and implements needed interventions based on assessment results.
- Documents assessment results and formulates nursing interventions.
- Performs venipuncture and other CLIA‑waived testing, including urine drug screening and breathalyzer.
- Administers injections.
- Completes AIMS assessments as ordered by the MD or APRN.
- Ensures timely response to physician/APRN orders.
- Facilitates collection of laboratory specimens and ensures proper completion of requisition forms.
- Demonstrates knowledge of normal and abnormal lab values.
- Measures and records client vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Coordinates medical and psychiatric care with community providers, ensuring appropriate referral documentation and follow‑up from consultation.
- In the absence of a physician or APRN, assumes leadership in medical emergencies, directing team members and making emergency care decisions per agency policies.
- Provides health‑related training/education for clients and families as indicated by assessments or team requests; facilitates health education groups as needed.
- Maintains examination room, equipment, and supplies to ensure a clean and safe environment for client care.
- Contributes professional nursing knowledge to client‑care decision making.
- Delegates or follows through with assignments to promote safe and optimal care for clients and staff.
- Exhibits clear and professional communication with clients and staff at all times.
- Communicates information clearly to physicians and other providers to ensure optimal client care, including any adverse medication reactions.
- Communicates effectively with families, other Claratel programs, and community partners (hospitals, clinics, MH or SA providers) to promote client care, staff functioning, or business processes.
- Completes all documentation within 24 hours of service delivery.
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed to practice in the State of Georgia. Must be able to perform venipuncture and medication injections. Must possess basic computer and typing skills, be able to use an electronic health record, and have prior experience working with behavioral health (preferred).
Inter-RelationshipsProfessional interface with clients, families, and caregivers using a recovery‑focused and trauma‑informed approach. Effective communication with coworkers at multiple sites, internal and external customers, and the public.
Working ConditionsWorks in an outpatient clinic on a flexible schedule within regular clinic hours. Flexibility to float to other agency sites as needed to assure coverage.
Needed AttributesWell organized and client‑focused with excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills. Able to provide direction to other staff in emergency situations (behavioral and medical). Works in a recovery‑oriented, client‑focused, and trauma‑informed care environment.
