Job Summary

The Registered Nurse - Preoperative provides comprehensive nursing care to patients preparing for surgical procedures.

This role includes patient assessment, preparation, and support, ensuring a safe and positive experience.

The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in preoperative care, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary preoperative protocols are followed.
• Conduct patient assessments, including medical history and current health status.
• Monitor and document patient conditions using Cerner.
• Collaborate with unit secretaries, techs, and other healthcare professionals to deliver seamless care.
• Adhere to patient ratios of 3:1, ensuring focused and personalized care.
• Provide care in Preop, Phase 2 bays, or PACU as needed.
• Participate in weekend on-call rotations 1-2 times during a 6-week schedule.

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Experience in preoperative or perioperative nursing.

• Familiarity with Cerner or similar documentation systems.
• Experience in floating between Preop, Phase 2, and PACU units.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required).
