Responsibilities- Leads, evaluates, and assigns staff; plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of volunteers and temporary employees; ensures adequate coverage for programs and events; provides exceptional service to the community through youth and adult programs; and meets changing needs and physical, social and emotional interests of individuals through innovative programming.
- Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs and activities; performs individual client assessments and evaluates community programming programs; educates, advocates and supports inclusion services across department programs; and plans and conducts workshops regarding therapeutic recreation programs for organizations, agencies, and support groups.
- Prepares activity plans; registers program participants; and monitors the safety of participants during activities.
- Meets with clients and community service providers; provides information and answers questions regarding policies, procedures, programs, fees, etc.; and responds to and resolves complaints.
- Prepares and submits reports; develops and oversees unit budget; conducts interviews; organizes and schedules programs; submits training reports; establishes priorities for completion of work; plans and organizes surveys; and implements and evaluates employee programs.
- Ensures adherence to established safety practices and procedures; and monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure the safety of employees and the public.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education, Special Education or a related field.
- Required:
two years of experience in therapeutic recreation/physical therapy, physical education, sports or recreation programming and administration, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
