The Accounting Technician–Accounts Payable administers and coordinates the College’s accounts payable processes to ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions. The position performs intermediate-level accounting and administrative functions requiring analytical skills, sound judgment, and a thorough understanding of accounting procedures. The Accounting Technician maintains financial records, prepares reports, supports audit and compliance activities, and provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders while ensuring adherence to College policies and applicable regulations.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school graduation or equivalent and three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience required.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively assist students, employees, and members of the public in a professional and customer-focused manner, including during high-pressure or sensitive situations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, and document management.
- Effective written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional correspondence and reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn and utilize specialized software systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, manage competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgment in accordance with College policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with employees, students, external stakeholders, and the public.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and maintain compliance with applicable privacy requirements.
- Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.
- Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
- Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.
- Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues.
- Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines.
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Summer hours may vary. The position may be eligible for the flexible work arrangement after the 120-day probationary period is successfully met.
