Overview
Job Title: Payroll Specialist.
Location: Decatur, IL 62526.
Pay Rate: $19/hour - $20/hour.
Duration: 6 Months.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
The Payroll Specialist will support Client’s Corporate Payroll team in a fast-paced, customer service–driven environment. This role is responsible for processing payroll for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. The position interacts regularly with employees and management across the organization and plays a key role in maintaining payroll integrity and operational excellence.
Job Specifications- Process US and Canadian payroll accurately and on schedule
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll processing errors
- Maintain compliance with payroll regulations and company policies
- Communicate with local management teams to ensure payroll accuracy
- Complete payroll reconciliations accurately and timely
- Prepare and process tax documentation including Form 941, W2, T4, and other required filings
- Maintain payroll data securely and in compliance with company standards
- Document payroll processes, procedures, and standard operating procedures
- Provide payroll guidance and support to employees professionally and promptly
- Serve as secondary processor for US and Canadian non-exempt payrolls
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure payroll accuracy and service excellence
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives
- Assist with special projects and reporting as assigned
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of general office or accounting experience; payroll experience preferred
- Intermediate understanding of accounting and mathematical procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of IBM CICS, IMS, and MDM systems preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to make sound decisions and prioritize tasks
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and work on the telephone for extended periods
