Overview
Gateway SRA (Ray Graham Association) is looking for warm, enthusiastic, and patient individuals to serve as Summer Camp Counselors for children with special needs. The role offers an opportunity to develop career‑building skills such as leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and relationship management while creating exciting, heartwarming memories for campers.
Duties- Supervision and safety: Actively monitor campers during all activities, including mealtimes, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and respond to any accidents or emergencies.
- Group management: Maintain order and positive group dynamics, resolve minor conflicts, and provide guidance to campers.
- Communication: Regularly update the Site Supervisor on camper progress, address concerns, and maintain open communication.
- Record‑keeping: Keep attendance logs, activity reports, and document incidents and behaviors.
- Staff collaboration: Work effectively with other counselors and camp staff to deliver a cohesive program and a positive, inclusive camp environment.
- Enjoy working with children, specifically those with special needs.
- Ability to participate in active outdoor and indoor activities and supervise children in various settings.
- Ability to educate and mentor campers in a fun and engaging manner.
- Self‑direction and teamwork skills.
- Problem‑solving aptitude.
- Clear communication with coworkers and campers; provide feedback and address concerns to supervisors.
- Patience, positive attitude, and ability to manage challenging situations while maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Basic first aid knowledge and understanding of first aid procedures to respond to minor injuries.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- First Aid and CPR certification (training will be provided if needed).

Schedule:
Monday – Friday; 9:00‑3:30;
June 1 – July 31, 2026.
Location:
Carol Stream, IL. Pay: $15.00‑$17.00.
