Monitors assigned school districts on compliance with federal indicators. Works with districts on the comprehensive assessment, policies and procedures, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Learns, understands and effectively communicates the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) cyclical monitoring plan and procedures.
- Collects specific items from the assigned district for review, including a comprehensive assessment of policies and procedures and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Reviews data and documents for the assigned districts and generates a report on the districts compliance with policies and procedures, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and federal indicators.
- Works with districts to complete comprehensive plans to improve status.
- Identifies and help districts improve areas of non-compliance.
- Write district compliance reports.
- Acts as an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) representative to schools districts and provides professional development when needed.
- Trains and travels as it relates to completing tasks assigned by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Special Education department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Masters degree in Special Education, Social Work, or related field in education. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- 5-10 years experience in Special Education Administration, compliance monitoring, educational leadership or related field.
- Experience writing reports and actions plans.
- Knowledge of Special Education laws (state and federal), mandates, and federal and state indicators.
- Strong verbal/written communication and technical writing skills.
- 10-15 years experience in special education administration, compliance monitoring, educational leadership or related field.
- Experience with implementation of action plans and monitoring progress.
- Former or retired Director of Special Education.
