Children's Services Librarian

The La Grange Park Public Library District is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative librarian for our busy Children’s Services Department. The right candidate will love working with a diverse community in a fast-paced environment, with the skills to work independently and as a team member. We are seeking a confident, hardworking, and dedicated individual who possesses excellent customer service skills.

Evening and weekend work required.

• Works public service desk, performing reference and reader’s advisory services
• Plans and implements educational and recreational programs for children, including story time
• Assists with collection management and development, as assigned
• Represents the library to the community through outreach to various organizations
• Assists patrons in the use of technology i.e.: computers, eReaders, phones, tablets

• A master’s degree from an ALA accredited LIS program
• Minimum one year of work experience in a customer focused environment; library experience preferred
• Ability to conduct a successful reference interview and perform responsible internet searching
• Employment is contingent upon a background check

• Hiring salary range:
  Starting at $21 DOQ
• 37.5 hours per week
• Annual paid time off: 4 weeks vacation, 9 holidays, 12 sick days, 3 personal days
• Enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
