Career Partnerships Coordinator

Position Overview:

The MSD of Decatur Township is seeking a dynamic, innovative Career Partnerships Coordinator to design, expand, and manage work-based learning opportunities for students at Decatur Central High School. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for all WBL programming, ensuring students have access to real-world learning experiences that support career readiness, skill development, and credential attainment. The coordinator will expand partnerships with local employers, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations to create both in-person and virtual work-based learning pathways.

This position plays a key role in advancing the district’s College & Career Readiness goals and strengthening the K–12 continuum of career exploration, preparation, and work-based learning.

Essential Responsibilities Partner & Program Development
  • Develop, strengthen, and maintain partnerships with local employers, businesses, and industry leaders across multiple career pathways.
  • Create and coordinate in-person and virtual WBL opportunities, including internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, industry mentorships, project-based learning experiences, and career discovery meetings.
  • Collaborate with higher education institutions and training providers to expand credentials of value and certification opportunities for high school students.
  • Work closely with Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers, counselors, and administration to align WBL placements with program pathways and students’ career goals.
Student Coordination & Support
  • Recruit, interview, match, and monitor students participating in work-based learning experiences.
  • Track student progress and ensure compliance with Indiana CTE/WBL requirements and INters reports.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, employers, and school staff to support student success.
  • Implement and promote WBL opportunities district wide, including age‑appropriate career exploration for elementary and middle school students.
Logistics & Operations
  • Coordinate transportation to and from work-based learning sites, ensuring safety and compliance with district procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of employer partnerships, student placements, hours, evaluations, and credential outcomes.
  • Ensure all required district, state, and grant reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Facilitate Career Interest Surveys and alignment of pathways and course offerings.
  • Support development and marketing of the WBL program through presentations, digital media, newsletters, and community events.
Program Promotion & Outreach
  • Lead efforts to promote and expand the Decatur Township WBL program across K–12 grade levels, establishing key experiences and competency development at each grade level/grade band.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, and teachers to integrate career exploration and readiness initiatives.
  • Represent the district at job fairs, community engagement events, and workforce development meetings.
  • Coordinate a district job fair for students in Decatur Township.
Qualifications & Requirements Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Career & Technical Education, Education, Workforce Development, Business/Industry, or related field.
  • Experience in CTE and Work‑Based Learning coordination, instruction, or program development.
  • Strong understanding of Indiana Graduation Pathways and Diploma Requirements, employability skills, and industry certifications.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with business and community organizations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and school administrators.
Preferred
  • Valid Indiana teaching license or Workplace Specialist license in a CTE area.
  • Prior experience supporting high school students in career development or workforce readiness programs.
  • Knowledge of transportation coordination, safety protocols, and student supervision guidelines.

Additional Information

This position is funded through the Lilly Endowment Grant, and continuation will be reviewed at the conclusion of the grant period 2030‑2031 school year.
