Overview
Join a strong team as the Y SACC and Camp Director for the Decatur Family YMCA. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The SACC & Daycamp Program Director will lead current programs in place including:
Before & After School programming, School Day Out program, and summer daycamp. This position will oversee the implementation and facilitation of innovative curriculum and activities, supervise, develop, coach, and train staff to ensure that participant’s development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved. Typical work week may include early morning, late afternoon with some occasional weeknights and weekend events.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possesses a 2 year degree in a related field or experience of at least two years directing organizing, and running similar programs.
- Minimum of one-year related experience working with school-aged children.
- Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. Must have a current driver’s license.
- Responsibilities for this position are determined by school year and summer seasons; during the school year oversees Y before and after school program and school day out program. During the Summer, oversees the onsite day camp. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Assists in marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations.
- Assists in monitoring program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Ensures proper program participation registration in all programs
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of participation in programs.
- Monitors daily program operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Purchases and maintains supplies for all program activities.
- Maintain accurate staff and child records at all times.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events including Annual Campaign.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Participate in branch meetings as a member of the leadership team.
- Responsible for strict adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures as well as State of Illinois licensing rules.
- Conducts annual review of those policies and procedures.
- Be a champion for overall branch membership goals, retention, and satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
