Description

Responsible for teaching courses and labs in the Manufacturing Skills Certificate program.
Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:
  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the appropriate Administrator for review.
  • Teach classes assigned by the Associate Dean and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the College.
  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare textbook recommendations and submit to the Associate Dean.
  • Prepare for the annual budget and equipment requests and submit to the Associate Dean for recommendation.
  • Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials books required commodities and supplies to Associate Dean for approval.
  • Complete attendance assist in registration and report grades as prescribed by the Associate Dean.
  • Attend staff meetings training and development activities called by the administrative officers.
  • Be on work site for 37.5 hours per week (30 minute lunch).
  • Notify the Associate Dean well in advance of absences.
  • Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift and be in the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  • Serve on such committees for the betterment of the College as may be established by the administration and faculty.
  • Consider the general and special needs of the student. Use a variety of methods and teaching strategies that reflect the different learning styles and needs of students.
  • Observe support and enforce the regulations policies and programs of the College and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to teaching by focusing upon student retention and maintaining current in-class presentations.
  • Maintain inventory and control of flammable toxics and caustics.
  • Maintain accurate control of tools on assignment.
  • Prepare Program Service Credit forms task lists and other reports as required.
  • Maintain supervision of students in assigned areas.
  • Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.
  • Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections or Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice regulations and procedures
  • Maintain equipment assigned to area.
  • Maintain control of keys per DOC requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Specific Functional Job Requirements

    Education Requirements:
    • Associate degree preferred.
    Experience Requirements:
      Teaching Experience Preferred. 3-5 years Manufacturing Experience Required.
    Knowledge:
      CNC programming-Computer Added Drafting-Robotics-Electrical Systems-and Logic Controllers.
    Skills:
      Must have good communication skills, basic math/algebra skills and be computer literate.
    Personal Requirements:
      Open minded, innovative, enthusiastic, positive attitude, and adaptive to new teaching technologies.

    Vacation hours for the Department of Corrections employees are loaded at the beginning of each fiscal year, although it is credited to the employees on a monthly basis.
