Job Description:
The Essential Skills Coordinator will serve both promising and hard‑to‑place participants. It is vital that the coordinator helps participants overcome barriers, facilitates an effective transition through the program, and prepares participants for life after graduation. The coordinator will report to the Executive Director of EnRich. The position will deliver the expansion of programming in Essential Skills with a concentration on students enrolled in Richland Community College’s Workforce Training programs.
The coordinator will link school staff and community resource providers to ensure that participants have access to available services. The coordinator will work with other coordinators to ensure that career assessments, intake, career counseling, and career exploration activities are done to benefit both the grants and participants. The coordinator will instruct students in the Essential Skills curriculum using lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, seminars, case studies, field assignments, and independent or group projects.
The coordinator will prepare, administer, and mark tests and papers to evaluate students’ progress and provide individualized lesson/corrective instruction. Incidental community work and recruitment activities, coaching sessions with leaders and students, and research of best practices for delivering training content are expected. This is a grant‑funded position and is subject to continued funding.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field, and a certification and/or experience working with trauma‑sensitive populations.
- 2-5 years of previous experience working with students in a target population.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to embrace and drive change.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail.
- Computer skills essential, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and contributor.
- Highly experienced with project coordinating and management; proven track record of working strategically and collaboratively across administrative offices.

Physical Demands- Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.
- Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
- Work performed in an office environment; may require standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, using hands and fingers, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Travel to local events and local organizations/businesses may be necessary; some intrastate travel may be required.
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Irregular hours periodically including weekend and/or evening/morning hours for recruitment events, media events, preparing instructional materials, and meetings may be required. Position may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement after the 120‑day probationary period is successfully met.
