Overview
Senior Structural Design Engineer - Decatur, IL — This is a permanent, full-time, exempt-level position. This is an in-office role offering some hybrid work benefits. ADM is seeking a seasoned Structural Engineer to reside within our Engineering Services group, primarily focused on facility Capex improvements, and also providing engineering design expertise for other facility initiatives as needed.
General Characteristics
A structural engineer fully competent in conventional industrial design projects who can work independently and complete all aspects of structural design and detailing in a project.
Knowledge
Comprehensive knowledge of steel structures, concrete structures, and foundation design. A working knowledge of masonry and wood design is a plus.
Direction Received
Independently performs most assignments with general instructions. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Performs work involving conventional engineering practices but may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
- Maintains broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and related disciplines; recommends changes in procedures.
- Reviews progress with management.
Responsibilities for Directions of Others
May supervise a few engineers and/or technicians on specific assignments.
Communication Skills
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; familiar with report preparation.
- Bachelor of Science Degree:
Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or Architectural with structural engineering emphasis - Master’s Degree is equivalent to one year of experience
- Generally requires 5 to 10 years of related experience
- A Professional Engineer’s license with a structural specialty to practice structural engineering
- Alternatively, a Structural Engineering license issued by a state that requires a separate structural license to practice (e.g., Illinois)
Base pay offered may vary depending on factors including market location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The pay range for this position is expected to be between $91,600.00 - $. Salaried Incentive Plan includes an annual bonus.
