We are expanding and hiring an Associate Packaging Engineer to the team! You will work cross-functionally to support packaging projects with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and Product Development.
What you will do:
- Demonstrate foundational packaging development capabilities, including building and testing unit loads, determining primary package sizing, executing package performance testing, leading plant trials, selecting appropriate test methods, and interpreting results.
- Represent the packaging function in cross‑functional team discussions to ensure alignment on project goals and technical requirements.
- Learn and apply the Formula Management System to create, update, and maintain accurate packaging specifications.
- Understand the interaction between packaging, product, and manufacturing processes to support robust design and operational efficiency.
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers to identify opportunities for material, design, and equipment improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues during line trials and package testing for projects of low to moderate complexity, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
- Analyze and interpret data to guide decision‑making and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience:
- 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Science/Engineering and 2 or more years of work experience in packaging engineering
- Proficiency in MS office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point
Preferred:
- MS Project (project management software) or similar
- Knowledge of Statistics, Lean six Sigma and/or data analysis
- Proficient in unit load software - Cape Pack, Tops
- Materials knowledge in flexible films, rigid plastics, corrugated, and decorating technologies
