Overview
We are seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to join a Platform Engineering team responsible for the design and development of automotive battery and electrical system test equipment. This role provides technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise to deliver high-quality, reliable hardware solutions for products including testers, chargers, and electric vehicle battery management platforms.
Compensation: $140,000–$150,000 per year
Responsibilities Development (70–80%)- Lead hardware design and development for new platforms and products
- Provide technical ownership and guidance for all aspects of hardware design
- Mentor and guide junior hardware engineers on the team
- Facilitate hardware engineering Scrum events, including Sprint Planning and Retrospective
- Create and maintain product technical documentation (specifications, design documents)
- Design, troubleshoot, and validate microcontrollers and embedded mixed-signal systems at the component level
- Perform schematic capture, board layout collaboration, and development validation
- Initiate and participate in hardware/platform design reviews
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, production, etc.) to support design tasks
- Work with customers and technical teams to understand requirements and develop solutions
- Partner with Supply Chain and suppliers for component selection, approval, and manufacturability
- Contribute to hardware engineering process improvements and future platform architecture decisions
- Provide ongoing troubleshooting and post-delivery technical support
- Resolve technical questions and issues for deployed hardware
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of hardware engineering experience, preferably in automotive or battery/electrical systems
- Proven experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, mixed-signal hardware, and PCB design
- Strong knowledge of hardware validation, schematic capture, and board bring-up
- Experience leading engineering teams or providing technical mentorship
- Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with hardware engineering standards and process improvement initiatives
- Ability to travel between locations as needed
- Salary Range: $140,000–$150,000 per year
- Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing opportunities based on company and individual performance
- Paid Time Off: 12 days of vacation per year (prorated), 5 emergency PTO days, plus 10 company-paid holidays
