Job DescriptionAs a Metallurgical Engineer, you will be part of a larger metallurgical laboratory team tasked with assuring the quality of mining and construction equipment and components. You will work in a hands‑on engineering role supporting industrial part production and processes. Your scope of responsibilities will include failure analysis of parts returned from customers as well as qualifying parts based on their metallurgical specifications and requirements.
Additionally, you will support process engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams focused on root cause corrective actions derived from failure analysis and part qualifications. This role supports a world‑class manufacturer of construction and mining equipment that maintains an ISO accredited certified quality environment. The successful candidate will be trained and certified in several ASTM specifications and methods that help maintain the labs ISO 17025 A2LA accreditation.
Once trained, qualified candidates will have various lab responsibilities including metallography, microscopy, fractography, non‑destructive evaluation, SEM/EDS analysis and interpretation, mechanical testing including tensile and Charpy testing, hardness testing, and various other aspects of destructive testing.
- Assure quality of mining and construction equipment and components.
- Work hands‑on in the laboratory to support industrial part production.
- Analyze failures of returned parts and qualify parts based on metallurgical specifications.
- Support process engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams in root cause corrective actions.
- Maintain ISO 17025 A2LA accredited quality environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical or Materials Science engineering.
- Training and certification in ASTM specifications and methods.
