CAD Operator II – Decatur, IL
Job SummaryThe CAD Operator II is a mid-level CAD position. Creates CAD deliverables and completes other duties as assigned. Work under guidance of Project Manager, Lead CAD Operators, and Design Professionals. Utilizes field data, legacy information, and plant direction.
Job Duties- Develop and complete accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, PID & PFDs, and other CAD deliverables.
- Read and interpret design drawings.
- Coordinate construction documents with clients when requested.
- Review constructability and feasibility of construction details.
- Review shop drawings for constructability and compliance with design documents.
- Coordinate with CAD Manager on best methods for project assignments.
- Apply office standards and templates to develop final working drawings.
- Direct preparation of drawings and models by team members when needed.
- Provide feedback to project teams and CAD Manager to improve performance.
- Generate material takeoffs from 2D and 3D CAD data.
- Field surveying and information gathering.
- Develop CAD standards and templates.
- Manage project files (CAD files, vendor files, emails, etc.) and disseminate project information.
- Coordinate design work with other disciplines (mechanical, piping, electrical) using reference files.
- Maintain client communications as requested.
- Resolve complex modeling and layout issues with clients.
- Build strong working relationships within the CAD team.
- Associate’s degree or diploma from a recognized technical school in AutoCAD, or equivalent professional work experience.
- 3+ years of CAD experience in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and preferably Advance Steel or equivalent design applications.
- Knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D modeling techniques.
- Positive, can‑do attitude and a collaborative spirit.
- Self‑starter, organized, thorough, and self‑motivated.
- Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to find better solutions for CAD drafting and modeling challenges.

Pay Range$39,200.00 – $72,800.00
