Engineering College Internship
Mueller Water Products, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an opening in our Decatur, Illinois manufacturing plant for an Engineering College Intern. This role will start Summer 2027 and could be available for co-op opportunities as well. The Decatur Operations established in 1857, manufacturers rugged and dependable devices used in industrial/commercial applications.
Its products include brass water and steel gas valves, Water/Gas Line tapping machines, Line Stopper Fittings, tools and controllers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Intern will support Operations with various projects that directly align with plant and divisional strategic deployment initiatives. Potential projects include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 3D-Modeling of Shell Cutters and Accessories (within Solid Works)
- Material and Information Flow:
- Layout of racking
- Determining Racking
- Racking Space Requirements
- PVD Boards
- Raw Material Utilization:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a 4 year university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Material Science or Electrical Engineering fields or recently completed such degree.
- Basic proficiency in ProE, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and MS Office Standard
- Major GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to effectively express thoughts/ideas through written and verbal communication
- Creative problem solving abilities
- Ability to develop positive working relationships in a cross functional team environment
- Ability to sit, stand, twist, turn, climb stairs and work in a manufacturing environment as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferred
- Preferably completed at least two years of college education prior to start of internship
This is an hourly paid intern working 40 hours per week with housing provided if outside a 50 mile radius of Decatur, IL.
