The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and quality of care within the facility.
The Administrator works closely with the DON, department heads, physicians, residents, families, employees, and ownership to ensure the facility operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of resident care and safety.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of skilled nursing operations, staffing, census development, financial management, regulatory requirements, quality improvement, and employee engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership and direction for facility operations
Establish a culture focused on resident-centered care, safety, dignity, and quality of life
Partner closely with the DON and nursing leadership to maintain strong clinical outcomes
Oversee all facility departments and ensure effective communication between departments
Recruit, develop, coach, and retain department leaders and staff
Establish clear expectations and promote accountability throughout the organization
Monitor staffing levels and work with department leaders to address staffing needs
Oversee facility budget, expenses, and financial performance
Monitor census, occupancy, admissions, discharges, and referral relationships
Develop and maintain positive relationships with hospitals, physicians, residents, families, and community partners
Oversee admissions and ensure an effective transition of new residents into the facility
Monitor resident and family satisfaction and address concerns promptly
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Maintain survey readiness and coordinate preparation for regulatory inspections
Review survey results and develop and implement corrective action plans when necessary
Monitor quality measures and facility performance indicators
Lead and support QAPI initiatives
Review incident reports, complaints, and risk-management concerns
Ensure appropriate follow-up and resolution of identified issues
Oversee infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and safety initiatives in collaboration with appropriate leaders
Ensure facility policies and procedures are implemented consistently
Conduct regular leadership and department meetings
Maintain effective communication with ownership and senior leadership
Monitor employee engagement, turnover, attendance, and retention
Promote professional development and staff education
Ensure the physical environment is safe, clean, comfortable, and well maintained
Work with maintenance and environmental services to address facility needs
Oversee purchasing, vendor relationships, and supply management
Ensure appropriate documentation and recordkeeping
Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team
Represent the facility professionally within the local community
Perform other duties and leadership responsibilities as needed
The LNHA will take an active role in maintaining regulatory compliance and survey readiness, including:
CMS and state regulatory requirements
Quality measures and performance improvement
Resident rights and grievance processes
Staffing requirements
Infection prevention and control
Emergency preparedness
Health and safety standards
Documentation and recordkeeping
Plan of correction development and implementation
