Job Description

Service Mechanic – Decatur, IL. This is a full‑time, hourly 2nd or 3rd shift position.

• Perform preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers
• Certification of performing A/C freon recovery and recharging, perform repairs on A/C
• Perform brake repairs
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
• Mount and dismount tires
• Perform diagnostics with laptop computer
• Component replacement: starters, alternators, and batteries
• Cosmetic repairs, decals, reflective tape, fenders, and bumpers
• Pressure test hydraulic systems and replace hoses
• Perform annual DOT inspections on tractors and trailers
• Rebuild components

• Follow and promote a safe work environment
• Maintain a good attendance record (no more than 3 days unexcused absent in a calendar year)
• Good communication with all trucking personnel
• Ability to work well with others
• Maintain good housekeeping
• Understand and perform assigned job tasks within the employee’s classification
• Perform tasks within standard time
• Follow work procedures and troubleshoot equipment problems applicable to the classification
• Pass all required tests for the classification

Base pay: $23.38 – $27.47 per hour. Non‑exempt employees eligible for overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Employees are at‑will; the company reserves the right to modify base pay at any time.
