** Job Description*
* ** Department Superintendent (Extraction/Soy Protein Concentrate) - Decatur, IL.
** This is an exempt level position.
** Position Summary**:
Lead day-to-day operations of a soy/protein extraction department. Demand for plant-based proteins is growing and ADM provides decades of protein expertise and this department plays a meaningful role in delivering on that demand.
*
* Job Responsibilities:
*** Actively work to ensure that all ADM employees, visitors, vendors and contractors understand and align with the ADM safety policies and procedures
* Require safety and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations
* Work very closely with compliance personnel to ensure continuous audit readiness in a PSM and Food Safety plant
* Utilize assets efficiently to meet production and quality goals
* Lead department in established policies, procedures and plant priorities
* Guide department in a manner that results in a cohesive, focused, positive climate to achieve organizational goals
* Provide mentorship to operators and engineers to achieve short term and long-term department performance through use of KPI's, continuous improvement, and Performance Excellence concepts
* Embrace an owner's mentality by managing costs and continuously focus on efficiency improvement
* Ensure training and development of all department employees
* Provide mentorship, accountability, and disciplinary support as necessary

* Job Requirements:
*** A Bachelor's degree or higher of Science or Chemical Engineering or similar area of concentration
* 5+ years in a production environment in soy extraction/food processing/or similar industry
* Excellent leadership ability including a vision for strategic direction, delegation and leading others in work execution
* Demonstrated scale-up experience and/or new technology development experience in a production environment is a plus
* Knowledge of multiple processes and unit operations in a full-scale production plant
* Knowledge of PSM and Food Safety Standards is vital
* Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
* Excellent planning and organizational skills
* Proven track record as a phenomenal teammate
* High energy level and clear customer focus emphasis
* Ability to prioritize workload
* Make decisions in a fair and professional manner
* Possess the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and in various climates
* Prompt attendance is a requirement
* Physical qualification to wear a respirator may be required ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
