About the Organization

Our client is a well‑established, multi‑state healthcare operator with more than 40 facilities across the United States. Building on their strong operational foundation, they are launching a new, dedicated Drug Rehabilitation Division focused on delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care to individuals recovering from substance use disorders.

The organization is starting with four rehabilitation facilities across the Midwest and East Coast, with a defined and well‑capitalized roadmap for rapid growth through acquisition and the development of new services. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and scale a new national platform within the behavioral health landscape.

Position Overview

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as the senior operational leader for the new Drug Rehabilitation Division. This executive will be responsible for building, managing, and optimizing all operational functions across current and future facilities. As the division grows, the COO will play a key role in shaping strategy, developing systems, integrating new acquisitions, and ensuring outstanding clinical and operational performance.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished operator with extensive experience in the drug rehabilitation, substance use disorder, or addiction‑treatment sector. Experience at Vice President, SVP, or COO level within a multi‑site behavioral health or rehab organization is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership over all operations within the Drug Rehabilitation Division.
  • Build organizational infrastructure across clinical operations, workforce management, compliance, financial performance, and quality outcomes.
  • Drive operational excellence, consistent service delivery, and best‑in‑class patient experience across all facilities.
  • Oversee integration of new facilities and services, supporting the organization’s aggressive acquisition and growth strategy.
  • Partner with the CEO and broader executive team to shape strategic plans, operational models, and long‑term vision for the division.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and alignment with federal and state requirements.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead high‑performing regional and facility‑level leadership teams.
  • Implement performance metrics, reporting structures, and operational processes across the portfolio.
  • Foster a culture centered on mission, ethics, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Qualifications
  • Extensive leadership experience within the drug rehabilitation, substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, or addiction‑recovery sector.
  • Experience as a Vice President, SVP, COO, or equivalent multi‑site operational leader
    .
  • Strong understanding of clinical, regulatory, and operational frameworks within substance use disorder treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex teams and multi‑facility operations.
  • Experience integrating new acquisitions is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
  • Location flexible; preference for candidates based in the East Coast, Midwest, or Southern U.S.
