Railcar Repair – Decatur, IL
This is a full-time, hourly level position.
Shift(s) Available:
Night shift;
Sun - Wed 8:30p - 6a, Thurs 6p - 2:30a. Will train on 1st shift. Opportunity to move to Day Shift once seniority is obtained.

We are seeking a skilled Painter/Blaster to perform surface preparation and coating application on railcars undergoing recertification. This role involves blasting surfaces to remove old coatings, applying new paint and inner lining coatings, affixing identification markings, and maneuvering railcars in and out of the work area using a Track mobile, Rail King, or other railcar mover.
Job Responsibilities:- Surface Preparation:
Perform industrial abrasive blasting to remove old paint, rust, and contaminants, ensuring proper coating adhesion. - Painting & Coating:
Apply primer, paint, and specialized inner lining coatings using spray systems and other application methods. - Detailing & Labeling:
Affix fresh decals, identification numbers, and regulatory markings per company and industry standards. - Equipment Operation:
Use a Track mobile, Rail King, or other railcar mover to safely position railcars in and out of bays. - Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations related to blasting and painting operations. - General Maintenance:
Inspect and maintain blasting and painting equipment for optimal performance. - Teamwork & Communication:
Work alongside team members, inspectors, and supervisors to ensure quality work that meets recertification standards.
- Experience in industrial abrasive blasting and painting is preferred.
- Experience in railcar maintenance or industrial coating is preferred.
- Experience operating a Track mobile, Rail King, Shuttlewagon, or similar railcar mover is preferred.
- Forklift or heavy equipment operation experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform the tasks involved in blasting and painting railcars and pass an entry-level blasting and painting test.
- Ability to wear a respirator as required for job tasks.

- New colleagues will need to undergo on-the-job training to acquire skills and certifications, which will be assessed according to established standards
- Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training
- Participate in company planner operations training
- Equipment training may include but not limited to JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
- Ability to move about or to a work site by ascending/descending stairs, bending, kneeling and prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently
- Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding or other work at heights or in confined spaces
