Position: Laboratory Technician  (3rd shift or rotating shift)

An employer is seeking 2 Laboratory Technicians for a long-term opportunity in the Decatur, IL area. This role supports plant operations through testing, process monitoring, and quality assurance.

You will prepare product samples, conduct routine testing, and monitor plant processes. Responsibilities include recording and reporting results, maintaining retention samples, and communicating findings to operations with recommended adjustments. You will also handle lab documentation, perform basic equipment maintenance and calibration, verify system accuracy using standards, and manage lab inventory. In addition, you will maintain a clean and organized workspace, partner with production teams to support process improvements, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards (FDA, GMP, OSHA, EPA, etc.).

The 2 shifts available are:

Sunday–Thursday with rotating shifts;
Saturday required every 8 weeks

Overtime is frequently available and may be required based on business needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, professional environment with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently (lab experience is a plus but not required).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and systems (data entry, Excel/Word, or similar tools).
  • Reliable, hard-working team player with strong verbal and written communication skills, and willingness to work overtime as needed.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Lab or manufacturing experience preferred, including use of basic lab equipment (pH meter, balances, spectrophotometer); or relevant experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, perform basic calculations, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience with data entry, documentation, and systems such as LIMS or Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
