Lab Technician :
Night Shift (Decatur, IL)
- Pay Rate
: $20.00/hour - Shifts Available
: 3rd shift, 11p-7a - Temporary Contract position with Raise with potential for permanent hire with ADM

Raise has partnered with ADM, and they are seeking to hire a professional Lab Technician in Decatur, IL.
Job Summary:- Perform laboratory analysis on in‑process and finished product samples to determine conformance to quality and purity specifications.
- Collect samples throughout the plant and deliver them to the Central Analytical Lab.
- Analyze results rapidly and report deviations to Operations to ensure production of in‑spec material.
- Review and interpret shift notes and add relevant lab findings.
- Ensure equipment at Critical Control Points is in working condition through frequent visits to the packaging line.
- Communicate clearly with fellow lab technicians during shift changes for a seamless transition.
- Maintain lab cleanliness and track inventory of product ingredients.
- Organize sample collection, labeling, and reporting with high accuracy.
Work on holidays and weekends will be required when scheduled days fall on those events. Employees may use vacation to take those days off provided they give advanced notice and ensure proper coverage.
Employees may be required to work overtime during times of personnel shortages, vacations/absences, and/or plant events requiring additional quality‑related assistance.
Job Responsibilities:- All lab techs participate in production line cleaning procedures.
- Initial inspection of equipment for cleanliness.
- ATP swab collection and analysis.
- Communicate with Operations and Sanitation personnel based on swab/inspection results for re‑cleaning.
- Communicate with Quality personnel based on swab/inspection results for final pass of clean equipment.
- Record swab results on equipment cleaning documentation.
- No jewelry is allowed in processing areas. This includes dermal piercings. False fingernails and false eyelashes are prohibited. The only exceptions are plain wedding bands and medical alert jewelry.
- Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to the position.
- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and policies.
- Perform all required lab tests adhering to documented laboratory procedures.
- Physically test production samples.
- Verify lab instruments daily.
- Record, interpret, and enter test results using a computerized data system.
- Maintain samples of tested product to confirm test results when necessary.
- Maintain adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notify the supervisor when re‑ordering is needed.
- Continuously compare test results with standards to ensure all products are within specification.
- Handle various chemicals in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet provided by the manufacturer.
- Must be able to read/write/speak English and do basic arithmetic.
- Must be able to write clearly.
- Must be able to communicate with other employees professionally.
- Must be able to work on multiple tasks and remain organized.
- Must be able to work on a team.
- Must have a willingness to learn.
- Exhibit regular and prompt attendance.
- Participate actively in training.
- Report to work in a condition to perform all duties.
- Practice proper personal hygiene.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s in an applied science preferred. - Preferred analytical laboratory experience.
- Position requires basic computer operation skills, e.g., use of “point and click” programs, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, One Note), and different software programs for the instruments.
- Understand that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
- Commitment to ADM’s goal of achieving a zero‑injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods while performing job duties.
- Must be capable of working from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly (e.g., moving a gas cylinder).
- Must be able to handle dangerous chemicals safely.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
