Reporting to the Stevia Plant Manager, this position works closely with the EHSQ Manager, Operations Specialist, Process Engineer, Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, and contractors.
Role PurposeThe Stevia Plant Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting the Stevia process as well as maintaining manufacturing equipment in our Decatur Stevia Plant.
Main Accountabilities- Operate process equipment and execute all necessary tasks to produce natural high‑intensity sweetener products.
- Learn unit operations in material handling, reactions, filtration systems, spray drying and packaging.
- Complete sanitation tasks according to master sanitation programs.
- Participate in EHSQS audits, OSHA style compliance audits, and EHSQS safety communications.
- Maintain records for each production run (runsheets, HACCP forms, sanitation forms, etc.).
- Sample and perform analytical tests when needed.
- Monitor and observe production runs, reporting deviations or trends.
- Troubleshoot operating equipment problems and relay pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in reviewing safety and operating SOPs, Job Risk Analyses, and Pre‑Startup Inspections, work permits.
Climbing stairs/ladders, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, sitting, and standing for a 12‑hour shift duration.
Food Safety Duty of CareCarry out responsibilities in accordance with food safety, legal and quality requirements to ensure products are fit for human consumption.
EnvironmentComply with all environmental standards, procedures and work instructions. Report any environmental violations or near misses to prevent local environmental impacts.
Health & SafetyAdhere to safety policies, procedures and site rules. Fully participate in the safety program, including reporting incidents or near misses and auditing.
Performance MeasuresThe incumbent will be measured against site EHSQ, Production, Reliability, and Plant goals.
Competencies, Skills and Experience RequiredSelf‑motivated, team player, strong verbal and written communication. Practical hands‑on equipment, manufacturing experience and demonstrated mechanical aptitude are significant pluses. Ability to learn and identify needed improvements.
Starting WageStarting rate of $27.50 per hour.
