Volt is immediately hiring for Met Lab Machinist in Decatur, IL. As a Met Lab Machinist you will:

• Be part of a team that will be responsible for photos, mechanical testing, and hardness testing of ferrous casting, steel, and forged components as required to qualify purchase-finished, field failures, and internally produced product.
• Work in the Metallurgical Laboratory executing support functions to help the lab operate, including cleaning, organizing and moving parts / materials.
• Have several years' experience in a shop floor environment performing saw cutting, grinding, ASTM E23 (charpy impact testing) & ASTM E8/E8M, F606/F606M (tensile testing) along with mounting & polishing micros, magnetic particle analysis and some basic photography. and other machinist work.
• Work on a team that provides machining support to a metallurgical testing laboratory.
• Follow written instructions and be able to read blueprints.
• Pay attention to detail and be quality oriented.
• Use equipment including abrasive cut-off saws, surface grinders, lathes, reciprocating mill, and large band saws.
• Communicate with all levels of employees found in a professional lab environment, including supervisors and company engineers.
• Be team oriented, self-motivated and be flexible to working weekends and overtime when needed.

This is a Full Time, Contract opportunity. Pay Rate: $24- $30 per hour.
