Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with cardiac and CVICU experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma, Magnet-eligible acute care hospital in Decatur, IL.
Responsibilities- ICU setting within a 372-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
- 20-bed unit with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Cardiac and CVICU patient population, including pre/post cardiac cath, CVA/acute stroke, and chronic/acute renal failure cases
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (1800–0630)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed to meet facility demands
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Cerner
- 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation
- RTO of no more than 5 days is preferred for this assignment
- All time-off requests should be submitted upfront and will be discussed with the manager
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- Active IL RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Cardiac experience required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Pre/post cardiac cath and intervention experience required
- Chronic and acute renal failure experience required
- CVA/acute stroke management experience required
- IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and IV starts
- Medication experience required: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Respiratory/thoracic skills required: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and care of ventilated patients
- Proficiency in infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and code blue/rapid response required
