American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit at an acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

• Works in a Med/Surg Neuro unit within a 372-bed acute care hospital
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Patient population includes CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals
• No on-call requirements
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Average daily census of 32 patients
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction

• Active IL RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Experience with telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams required
• Gastrointestinal care experience required: colostomy care and feeding tube care/management
• IV therapy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication experience required:
  Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Surgical drain experience required
• Respiratory care experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, pre/post thoracic surgery, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred

• Level II Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available via permit obtained during orientation
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or fewer is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• 13-week contract
