Responsibilities
Maintaining order and supervising inmates in the DeKalb County Jail. This includes maintaining records, administering fingerprints, searching prisoners, issuing clothing and assigning quarters, inspecting prisoners' quarters to detect possession of any unauthorized objects, supervising inmates' cleaning activities, supervising the feeding of inmates, and supervising the operation of the jail laundry.
Minimum Requirements- High School diploma or GED from an accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid driver's license upon completion of the pre-employment application, a Georgia driver’s license upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must not have any felony or domestic violence convictions or any open charges.
- Must not have a pattern of multiple misdemeanors.
Starting Annual: $53,443.00 (with 4‑year college degree) / $50,899.00 (without college degree)
Beginning Monthly: $4,453.58 (with 4‑year college degree) / $4,241.58 (without college degree)

Successful completion of a physical examination is required upon offer of employment.

It is the policy of the DeKalb County Sheriff that all individuals who are accepted for employment will be hired as "at will" employees, and serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff, who exercises sole discretion with respect to all hiring, continuations of employment, and terminations. The Sheriff may terminate employment of any employee at any time with or without cause.
