Summary
Austin Industrial is a merit shop, employee‑owned company that has been a provider of construction, maintenance, plant services, turnaround and specialty services to the oil, gas and chemical, energy (power and ethanol), and manufacturing industries for more than 100 years. We are currently seeking a Scaffold Builder. This person will construct, assemble, maintain, and dismantle tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.
A minimum of three years of experience in the scaffolding craft is required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work at heights with no fear.
- Determine the type of scaffold needed.
- Inspect the job site and all scaffold material for defects and safety hazards.
- Effectively communicate safety hazards and mitigate avoidable hazards prior to construction of scaffolding.
- Transport tubular scaffold or other structural material and erect the scaffold to the required dimensions.
- Hoist scaffolding materials upward in order to erect the temporary structure.
- Properly secure and level locking sections of scaffold material.
- Properly secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
- Adhere to all OSHA, site‑specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffold.
- Perform final inspection of completed scaffold.
- Dismantle scaffold when it has been properly communicated to do so.
- Inspect and properly stow scaffold material after dismantling.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance;
stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
